Tadley R.F.C. - News

Minety 30 v Tadley 25

The Pump Technology Tadley always knew this would be a hard game, Minety away is something of a jinx fixture for Tadley in previous seasons promotion challenges have been scuppered on the boggy slopping pitch, this year mid table respectability is the goal where as the home side who looked a useful outfit on their visit to Red Lane were scrapping to avoid relegation.

It soon became obvious it wasn't going to be Tadleys day when star winger Gavin Dampies broke down in the warm up giving debutant Mark Davies a surprise start after impressing for the Strutters in recent weeks. This was no Bog a rock hard pitch saw a catalogue of injuires and Physio andy Port was Tadleys busiest man. 10mins in Skipper Rob murray had to come off to be replaced by Drew Roberts. Not an ideal start and Tadley were soon 2 tries down as they looked to rearrange. A tough start for Tadley, Dennison kicked a penalty to calm the nerves.

When centre rob morrison had to come off with an arm injury Tadley had used all 3 subs in the 1st quarter. A pumped up and playing good rugby home side took advantage and stretched their lead to 18-3 thanks to a converted try. Tadley gave themselves a glimmer just before the break when Centre Alex Pike barged through for a try which Dennison converted.

Further injury saw hooker Colin Summers off with a head injury and Tadley had to play out the 2nd half with 14 men. Not surprisingly Minety added 2 further tries but in the last quarter Tadley showed great fighting spirit to get right back into it, a penalty from Dennison gave them hope and then two cracking tries as Tadley went for it and played some great rugby, Gordon grierson was on the end of some great handling to score a try, then Pike Grabbed his second to see Tadley only 5 points behind. in a game that went on for 100mins than k s to all the injury time Tadley ran out of time and had to settle for an honourable loss.
