Tadley once again started with a strong line up with Luke Titley coming in for Darren Staley and after impressing for the Strutters Rob Morrison, took over from Alex Pike who was busy at a wedding fair, trying to decide if it should be Red Roses or white carnations as the wedding flower!
Tadley started the brighter and to their credit never allowed Ivel in the game as their superior forwards dominated the game and gave half backs Bailey and Cox time to release the backs and the try machines of Dampies and Smith, who ran in 5 tries between them.
Unfortunately for Ivel they had failed to pick up on the speed of Dampies and before they could blink their fly half had kicked two kicks straight to him allowing Dampies to run in two startling tries and secure this excellent start to the game for Tadley as Ivel found themselves 12-0 down with less then 10 minutes gone. The home side were however dealt a blow in the 30th minute when skipper Murray split this lip open and was taken to hospital which saw Keely take over the rains for the remainder of the game, however this reshuffle allowed ‘veteran Prop’, 29 year old Wightwick to come on for his first start of the season. Tadley closed out the game in the first half, with a further try from Toby Smith who made a mends for Edd ’Trowbridge’ Smith who dropped a certain try after Keely at last passed it to Bailey, his pass fed Smith only for him to knock on over the line. Tadley continued their good play with impressive performances from Lowe and Harris, whose work rate was second to none and this was closely followed by Rob Morrison, whose excellent line breaks, not only opened his try scoring for Tadley but the trios graft also allowed Tadley to play a large majority of the game in the Ivel half. Dampies finished off the scoring for Tadley, but with only 14 men and the game in the bag a loss of concentration put a small dampener on the game as Ivel crossed over in the corner for the final play of the game.
