Despite the weather the visiting team took an almost full strength team, with Cox once again starting at fly half for the injured Dennison, Cole replacing the unavailable Smith (who was spotted in Document house minutes before kick off) and the slim line, potential sky diving Keely moving from the back row to prop, which enabled Summers to once again stake a claim for the coveted number 6 shirt.
With the pitch resembling that of a new forest field, Cox dug the ball out of the mud, ducked under the horse and lifted the ball and passed the 10-metre line for the one and only time from the kick off to start the game and after an opening few mistakes and ‘questionable’ referring decisions both sides new they were in for a long cold afternoon.
Wimborne started the stronger as there scrum half caught the defence off guard and darted over from close range to take first blood, however in one of the few occasions Tadley managed to get the ball wide Dampies showed a clean pair of heels and crossed the line for Cox to convert and give Tadley a 5-7 lead.
This score however sadly was the only time the Red Lane Team were in front as the Dorset side came back and scored a number of unanswered points to take a strong lead into half time.
Tadley at times were playing impressive rugby with some powerful and skilful forwards play which was emphasised with Andy White crashing over to add to his impressive try tally, sadly however this was to be the last points for Tadley as yet again they proved to be less then clinical when it came to scoring points.
With Wimborne adding a number of points in the second half, they gradually took the game away from Tadley and eased to a comfortable and deserved victory, leaving Tadley to ponder on what yet again, could have been! The tough games just keep coming when this Saturday its Tadley v Oakmedians @ Red Lane 2.30 KO. Get along and cheer on the boys.
