A break in the bad weather had given way to perfect rugby conditions with no wind and brilliant sunshine, conditions well suited to Tadleys running prop Andy Swaddling who was welcomed back from paternity leave.
The Tadley XV started well and spent the majority of the first 20 minutes camped inside the Bradford on Avons half. Tadley were unable to convert this pressure and the score remained 0-0.
Bradford on Avon having absorbed this early pressure well then capitalised on some Tadley errors worked their way up the pitch and took 3 points that were offered from a penalty.
A further 3 points were added by Bradford on Avon in front of the posts again from a penalty making it 6-0 at the break.
The second half continued in a similar vein to the first but saw Andy White being replaced by Andy Swaddling due to injury. Tadley again had periods of possession and territory that could have lead to scores but they were unable to convert this into points.
Bradford on Avon remained determined and were again able to work themselves within kicking range and despite Gordan Griersons best efforts to clear the ball they were able to slot another three points.
This is how the score would remain and a thoroughly deserving victory for the home side.
An excellent defensive display from Charlie Cox at Centre and some strong ball carrying from open side Darren Staley were the performances that deserve mention. The Tadley squad were bitterly disappointed to lose this opening encounter and will hope to bounce back in the first home game next week when they entertain Oldfield Old boys at Red Lane 3pm KO.
